Feels So Good

OK, time for some music talk. I was talking to a friend of mine and somehow we started talking about Chuck Mangione. When I was a kid my parents bought me three Chuck Mangione cassettes – Feels So Good, Fun and Games, and Live at the Hollywood Bowl. I hadn’t heard any of his music in years to I downloaded the greatest hits off of iTunes. Wow. I know that the music is technically “smooth jazz” – which is kind of like jazz that has been emasculated, but this stuff is amazing. The band is totally cookin’ on every track. The guitar solo in Feels So Good is off the charts. What really got me though is how the music is so unapologetically happy. No irony or “too-cool-for-school” vibe here. Just great music that makes you feel good. Anyway, download the greatest hits compilation for $7. You’ll be glad you did. I promise.
