I spent Sunday afternoon watching the AFC and NFC championship games and monitoring twitter. I saw this from Leonard Sweet:
Every football team is playing today in the #NFLPlayoffs, not because they have innovated complex plays and sophisticated scoring methods, but because they have mastered the basics of the game: blocking, tackling, throwing, catching, running. Maybe back-to-basics, church?

It got me thinking. Worship leaders, what are our fundamentals? I think a clue lies in the term “worship leader.” We need to worship. It is surprisingly easy to get so caught up in production and performance that we forget to worship. Secondly, we lead. We are there for the benefit of our church – to clearly point them to Jesus and then show them the way.
